April 10, 2007    Council Meeting Minutes

Councilors present:  Kimberly Brya, Steve Dyer, Georgie Geraghty, Susan Gillette, Betsy Holden, Will McLean, Peggy McNamara and Jodie Stewart.

Councilors absent:  John Bausch, Steve Huels, Chris Hurley, Heidi Law and Sarah Woodburn.

Pastors and Staff present:  Joseph Shank, Connie Stewart, Jenny Gleichauf and Floy Schrage.

Gathering – Little Chapel

Before the beginning of the business portion of the Council Meeting, Council, Pastors and Staff gathered in Little Chapel for worship at 7:00 p.m.

Preliminary Matters

Steve Dyer, Chair, called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. after which the cares and concerns of the congregation were shared by the pastors.

A motion to approve the March 13, 2007 Council minutes was made by Kimberly Byra, seconded by Jodie Stewart.  Motion to approve was unanimous.

The Treasurer’s report was given later in the meeting.

Business

*Pastoral Search Update – The search is going along very well and there are currently three viable candidates. The committee will continue to keep an open search until a candidate for the position of Associate Pastor is found.

*Helms Award – A list of prospective recipients nominated to receive the award was developed and discussed.  A vote on the recipient(s) will be taken at the May Council meeting.

*Music – An up-date regarding the positions of Choir Director and Organist was given.

*Nominating Committee – The Nominating Committee is busy trying to fill the slate of open positions.  The committee is looking especially for younger members to become involved in leadership positions.

*Due to the sensitive nature of the above items, discussion was confidential.  Hence, no discussion is reflected in these minutes.

Other Business

Jenny Gleichauf, Associate Pastor stated that this year’s Confirmands will be reading their statements of faith at the Council Meeting on May 15th.

Floy Schrage reminded everyone that all reports for the Annual Meeting are due in the office by May1st.

Treasurer’s report:  Will McLean reported that the letter of credit with the Harris Bank has been executed.   He also reported that a number of yearly pledges have already  been paid, which is good news.

Councilors were urged to read the reports of the pastors.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:55 p.m. after a closing prayer by Joseph Shank, Senior Pastor.
