Councilors present: Debbie Cogan, Steve Dyer, Georgie Geraghty, Susan Gillette, Betsy Holden, Steve Huels, Jack Jadel, Peggy McNamara, Brek Peterson, Jodie Stewart and Sarah Woodburn. Councilors absent: Kimberly Brya, Bob Linn and Gina Logan. Pastors and Staff present: Joseph Shank and Floy Schrage. Others present: Dinny Cosyns, Heidi Law and Bruce Tincknell. Gathering-Little Chapel Before the beginning of the business portion of the Council meeting, Council, pastors and staff gathered in Little Chapel for worship at 7:OOp.m•~. Preliminary Matters Steve Dyer., Chair, called the business portion of the Council meeting to order at 7:20 p.m. then asked for approval of the May 15 20O7 Council minutes. Jodie Stewart moved, seconded by Sarah Woodburn, to approve the May 15th, Minutes. Approval was unanimous. In the absence of the Treasurer, Kimberly Brya, the formal Treasurer’s Report was dispensed with. However, the Chair reported that everything is currently in good shape. Business Steve Dyer then introduced three of the five new Council members: Debbie Cogan, Jack Jadel and Brek Peterson (Bob Linn and Gina Logan were unable to be present). After welcoming them, everyone else introduced themselves and told about their involvement in the church. The Chair publicly thanked all the outgoing councilors and asked other Council members to also thank them. The Chair gave an update on the status of the pastoral search. The committee came very close to extending a call to one particular candidate when a routine background check revealed some discrepancies in their educational background causing them to reverse course and return to interviewing other candidates. Worship Councilor, Steve Huels, introduced Bruce Tincknell from the research firm of Just The Facts who proceeded with his presentation of the results of the church survey commissioned by Council to better understand the behaviors, beliefs and attitudes of members of Winnetka Congregational Church. Duration of membership, frequency and degree of attendance, factors in determining service attendance, service and music preference, perspectives on programs and staff as well as other key areas of interest comprised the primary issues considered in the survey. After hearing the full report, which lasted over several hours, Council briefly discussed what type of report of the survey’s findings should go to the congregation. Due to the lateness of the hour, it was agreed that the committee who has been The Chair announced that the number of Council meetings for 2007-08 will be reduced by two Council will meet in the months of June, July, September October, November January, February, April and May on the second Tuesday of the month The Executive Committee meetings will take place on the fourth Tuesday of the month The meeting was adjourned at 10:15 p.m. followed by a closing prayer offered by Rev.
