Councilors present: Kimberly Brya, Georgie Geraghty, Susan Gillette, Betsy Holden, Chris Hurley, Heidi Law, Will McLean, Peggy McNamara, Jodie Stewart and Sarah Woodburn. Councilors absent: John Bausch, Steve Dyer and Steve Huels. Pastors and Staff present: Joseph Shank. Connie Stewart, Jennie Gleichauf and Floy Schrage. Confirmands Presentation of Statements of Faith Members of this year’s confirmation class and members of the Council gathered in the Little Chapel at 7:00 p.m. for the presentation of Confirmands statements of faith. Preliminary Matters Susan Gillette, Vice-Chair, called the business portion of the Council meeting to order at 7:50 p.m. after which the cares and concerns of the congregation were shared by the pastors. A motion to approve the May 15, 2007 minutes was made by Kimberly Brya, seconded by Betsy Holden. Motion to approve was unanimous. Will McLean, Treasurer, commented that we are four months into the budget year with the Variance Report ending April 30, 2007 reflecting the number of prepaid pledges. Interim Associate Pastor, Connie Stewart, reported that the Search Committee has received a number of inquiries regarding the position of Associate Pastor at WCC. There have been a number of quality candidates and the committee is interviewing them as fast as possible. Susan Gillette thanked Pastor Stewart for working with and advising this committee. Susan Gillette announced that Dr. Robert Harris and Elaine Clemens have accepted the unanimous call of the Council to the positions of Director of Music/Choirmaster and Director of Children’s Music/Organist, respectively. The choir was informed of this decision May 13, 2007. A discussion leading to the selection of the 2007 recipients of the Helms Award took place. (Discussion was confidential, thus the minutes do not reflect any of the deliberations.) Recognition and Thanks to Outgoing Councilors The Vice Chair, Susan Gillette, thanked outgoing Councilors John Bausch, Chris Hurley, Heidi Law and Will McLean for their many contributions to Council. Other Business Floy Schrage, Business and Facilities Manager, reminded Council that all group reports for the Annual Meeting are now due. Kimberly Brya, Support Councilor, reported that the sanctuary renovation begins on May 21st and will conclude on October 7th. Work to be done includes renovation of the pews, a new slate floor, painting of the sanctuary and installation of the organ. A brief report of the all-congregational survey will be given at the Annual Meeting June 10, 2007. A more detailed report and discussion will occur at the June 19, 2007 Council meeting. Closing Items Councilors were urged to read the pastors’ reports. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m. after a closing prayer by Joseph Shank, Senior Pastor.
