Members Present Peggy McNamara, Steve Huels, Bob Smith, Patty Van Cleave, Bruce Kelly, Bob Ebersole, Carla Vorhees, Brad McLane, Ed Katzman, Bob Linn, Judy Archambault, and Clyde McGregor. Staff in Attendance Pastor Joseph Shank, Pastor Jenny Gleichauf, Pastor Bill Mueller, Business Manager Floy Schrage. The meeting was opened at 7:10 pm with reflections and prayer by Jenny Gleichauf. Chairman Steve Huels gave a review of the agenda for the evening. Council Minutes -The minutes of the July 12, 2011 were approved as presented (McGregor/Linn). Financial Report Clyde McGregor advised contributions and pledges were strong during the summer. The financial audit was completed. Current estimates are for a break even year. Pastors Reports Joe and Jenny presented pastoral reports. Bill presented a program overview of Adult Education programs being presented on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. Budget Update Steve reviewed how the successful closure of the budget gap was accomplished and stressed the importance of keeping focused on meeting contribution and expense goals for the remainder of the year. Canvass Report- October 16 will be the kick off date for the 2012 canvass drive. The canvass team includes Harry Grace, Adam Brown, and Margo Pearson. Action items Steve and Judy reviewed and updated the action items. (hand out) 2011/2012 Calendar Distribution was made of the program calendar. Ministry groups will again have a presentation of plans and activities. Council Goals for 2011/2012- A draft of council goals was distributed. The three priority goals are: .Increased membership and member engagement .Maintain financial health .Engage and energize leadership An updated version will be distributed to the congregation in the next two weeks. Report on cost of services- Carla Vorhees presented a report of cost of services and related costs. (Handout) A motion to change the council meetings start time to 6:30pm passed. (Linn/Smith) The council endorsed the application of Amanda Huels for admission to seminary. (Linn/McGregor) The meeting was closed with prayer by Joseph Shank at 9:40 pm.
