Any woman who would like to become more involved in the life of the church is invited to participate in the Woman’s Society. There are many opportunities for service and fellowship with other women in the congregation. Committees include:
The Rummage Committee has planned and managed one of the biggest rummage sales in the area for 80 consecutive years. The net proceeds of the sale beneift over 40 humanitarian agencies in the Chicago area. You can learn more here.
The Benevolence Committee determines the distribution of the Rummage Sale proceeds. Their Mission Statement is “We fund agencies in the Chicagoland area that provide prevention, crisis and recovery services to underserved people.” Benevolence Application 2017
The Program Committee plans for and arranges the year’s monthly programs.
The WCC Woman’s Society’s has established a Scholarship Fund to honor the youth of our church. Awards will be based on a youth’s filing application and answering questions regarding his/her participation and service at WCC.
The nominating Committee, as stipulated in the by-laws, is asked by the President to propose a yearly slate of officers and directors. The committee is approved by the board and its slate is voted on by the board and general membership.
There is planned coordination with the lay ministry of WCC. The Woman’s Society publishes its own annual directory.
