Please Join us on May 4th at 10 am for a Special Sunday. Our Chancel Choir will lead worship in J.S. Bach’s Kantate No. 4 (Christ Lay in Death’s Grim Prison) with string ensemble and organ continuo.

We will also have a blessing of our Rummage workers and hope all volunteers will be present for this commissioning.

 RUMMAGE SALE

Thursday, May 8, 2008, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Our annual Spring Rummage Sale fast approaches, and those of you privileged to be part of the preparations know the anticipation, fellowship, and fun of this time of year! This rewarding outreach of the Woman’s Society involves the efforts of nearly 800 volunteers, both men and women, and is a wonderful way to connect with fellow church members, as well as people from our community and beyond who come together to raise funds for over 40 carefully selected social service agencies.

Again this year, Rummage is ready to accept the donation of vehicles including cars, snowmobiles, ATVs, motorcycles, boats, campers and machinery, such as large lawn mowers. The approved company which will facilitate these donations ensures the proper completion of all necessary paperwork for the transfer of title from donor to sale of vehicle. They take care of all details, including towing the vehicle, providing information on the assessed value and a tax receipt, and giving prompt access of the proceeds of the sale to Rummage. Donors may call Rummage at 847-446-0575, leave their name and a description of the vehicle they wish to donate, or request additional information.

We thank the many people who have called to volunteer to work and we are still taking names of those willing to help on the day of the sale, May 8, in the checkroom or as a cashier. One requires stamina, the other lets you sit! We also need ushers, as well as people to help in the departments. To learn more, please contact JODIE STEWART (847-433-1783), our volunteer coordinator, or Bo Avildsen (847-486-8018), our usher coordinator. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity for fellowship and service! And please come to shop – you will be sure to find a treasure for yourself or to give as a gift!

THE BIG RUMMAGE SALE WILL BE HERE IN 2 WEEKS!!! WE NEED YOU AND WE HOPE WE CAN COUNT ON YOU FOR THREE HOURS AS AN USHER ON THURSDAY, MAY 8th.

We Urgently need more ushers: 9am to noon and noon until 3pm

PLEASE LET BO AVILDSEN (avildsenbo@aol.com or 847-486-8018) KNOW IF YOU CAN HELP AND WHAT TIME IS BEST FOR YOU.

Church School Events:

WCC Children Head Down to Presbyterian Homes

Some of our WCC children, youth and friends head down to share their musical talents with the senior residents of Presbyterian Homes in Evanston, IL. This will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2008 from 2-2:45pm at the Presbyterian Homes’ Elliott Hall. Anyone is welcome to assist in transporting the senior residents into the hall and to hear our children play their cello, violin and piano pieces. Thank you Clara and Sam Geraghty, Maia Law, Amanda and Kaitlyn Shoewe, Catherine and Elizabeth Woodburn, Isabel and William Dube, Jill Lerner, and Ella Hackett for sharing your gifts!

Let’s Give Mom a (Sun)day Off!

To celebrate Mother’s Day on May 11, 2008, we would like to give our dedicated Sunday school parent-teachers a well-deserved day off. We need members to help supervise our Church School children as they watch a bible movie in Alsdorf (with popcorn) and make “Mom Coupons” to give to their mothers that day. Please email our WCC Church School Coordinator, Theresa Law, at childrensministry@wcc-joinus.org or call her at (847)441-7440, ext. 17 if you would like to volunteer for this event.
