Youth Sunday & Lunch Fundraiser

WCC’s own young people will be leading worship on Sunday, November 20th at 10 am morning worship. The theme for the service is, "When God’s Story Becomes Our Passion." There will be a guest band, as well as a Lunch Fundraiser in Tolman immediately following the 10 am worship service. All proceeds for the Lunch Fundraiser will go toward the Servant’s (High School Youth Group) Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic.

Remembrance Sunday

November 6

Join Us as we celebrate our annual Service of Word and Table at our 10:00 am Worship. This is the service when we remember and light candles on behalf of members and friends of Winnetka Congregational Church who have died this past year.

You are invited to light candles for your deceased loved ones as well. In the spirit of Hebrews 12:1: We have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us.

Welcome our newest members of WCC received Sunday, October 30: Linda & Mark Anderson, Liz Butler, Laurie Morse & Brian Homans, Annie Kay Taylor, and Mary & John Tilson.

Talking Canvass

"A basic tenet of a healthy democracy is good dialogue and transparency."
-Peter Finn

We on your canvass committee believe that is true for a healthy pledge drive as well. That is why we have teamed up with council to present to you a clear and open picture of our financial status, needs and requests. We are talking to you in hopes of creating a dialogue among us. Here are some questions for our discussion: Have you seriously considered your pledge? When was the last time you increased your giving level? Are you aware of the church’s needs? How does your faith influence your giving? What have you received from WCC in order to give equally in return? Think about it; talk about it with other members. Let’s keep the dialogue going. It is healthy to do so. That is why we named this year’s campaign: "Membership is a Two Way Street"…it assumes a dialogue, a giving and receiving.

Our goal this year is one million dollars and we hope to raise it before Thanksgiving. There is only way to make it happen, TOGETHER. It is the fair thing to do, it is the congregational way. We all must exercise our responsibility as members to give as well as receive. Please give thoughtful consideration to generously increasing your pledge this year.

You can pledge by returning your pledge card (mailed October 21), calling Mary Ann Kearns in the office at 847-441-3400 ext.13, or online at http://www.wcc-joinus.org/pledge.html."

Thank you for listening,

Your Canvass Committee

Sunday mornings, November 20 & 27

Adult Enrichment invites you to Join Us in the Centennial Room at 8:45 to view and discuss this 2-hour movie which we will present in 2 parts.

This widely acclaimed 2005 motion picture is a meticulous recreation of the turbulent era of Jesus and the events that changed the course of history! Narrated by Golden Globe nominee Christopher Plummer, it’s the bold and powerful story of Jesus as told by his disciple John.

The best-loved but least understood of the gospels, John presents a uniquely human portrait of courage and passion encompassing Jesus' entire three-year ministry, the final years of his life. Intimate and reflective, THE GOSPEL OF JOHN offers an unparalleled opportunity to experience the incomparable life and times of Jesus Christ.
