Giving Back Survey

Back to Outreach Main

From the earliest days, Winnetka Congregational Church has been known as a church that gives back to its community. Winnetka’s Public Library, its first newspaper, the Community House all got their start through the efforts of our church.

That spirit continues today. Examples include financial support of human needs and social justice organizations by our Mission Giving Committee and the Woman’s Society Benevolence Committee, the work of our Covenant Groups, the Mission Doing Committee, and the volunteer activities of our Confirmands and Servants.

Equally impactful in our community is the work of dozens of individual WCC members who address issues of social justice and human needs by serving on not-for-profit boards, tutoring children in inner-city schools, and volunteering their time and talents in many other important and rewarding ways.

Our pastors regularly hear from church members who ask, “I’d like to give back too! How can I get started?” At the Fall WCC Leadership Meeting, one idea strongly endorsed was Outreach could enhance our collective effort by facilitating a fuller exchange of information about volunteer opportunities among WCC members.

To help our church members find more ways to give back, we established a WCC Volunteer Information Exchange. Below is a list of organizations and activities through which WCC members are helping to meet human needs or achieve social justice. This database is placed on the WCC website to make it easier for those seeking involvement – on any basis they choose – to comfortably reach out to fellow WCC members for information about giving back in an area of shared interest.

Please help us by completing the short form below. We look forward to harnessing the volunteer energy and talents of even more of us and to giving back in ways that benefit both our members and the broader community.

Thank You!
