The Servants Youth group is a group of high school youth who meet every Monday night from 6:30 – 8 p.m. throughout the year. Meetings have a widely varied content and focus from spiritual topics to current events to service projects (e.g. Soup Kitchen, Night Ministry, Presbyterian Homes, Wish Tree, etc.) to game nights (Whirlyball, Ultimate Frisbee, etc). One of the highlights of every Servant is the opportunities they have to get away form it all every now and then. We have a fall retreat to Presbyterian Camps at beautiful Saugatuck, MI; a mission trip to the Dominican Republic and a Spelunking trip to Wisconsin. The group also takes advantage of our close proximity of the city of Chicago through trips to Second City, Dave and Busters, Cubs games and a myriad of other activities that the City of Chicago provides.
Our senior high youth have a tradition of leading the congregation in outreach through their annual Spring Break mission trip. This year the youth are going to the Dominican Republic to build a school. Together they break down the barriers of poverty through their work in the community. The trip is funded by selling shares of stock in the project and the Servants report on their trip at an annual "stockholders meeting." |
